Questions
Fair questions, honest answers.
If something isn't here, write to us at hello@ghadeer.app.
- What is Ghadeer?
- An invite-only community for Shia Muslims in the US and Canada, with two parts: an advice forum where you post real, worldly problems and get answers from people who share your values, and a directory of vetted community service providers. It's about counsel and trusted services — not religious content.
- Who can join?
- Adults (18+) across the United States and Canada who were referred by an existing member. Everyone — whether you're here to ask for advice or to offer a service — goes through the same vetting.
- How do I get an invite?
- Members invite people they'd trust with their own questions. If you don't know a member yet, join the waitlist — we're building a way to welcome people in as the community grows.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Ghadeer is a community-benefit project. There's no charge to join, ask, answer, or find a provider.
- What kinds of problems belong here?
- Worldly, day-to-day ones: a business decision, a career crossroads, a health question, an education choice, a financial or legal knot, a family or household matter. If you'd ask a knowledgeable, trusted person about it, it belongs here.
- Is this a religious app?
- No. The values live in who's in the room and how we treat each other — not in religious content. There's deliberately no politics, no doctrinal debate, and no matrimonial content.
- Is my information private?
- Your problems are yours. Sensitive matters can move to private messages, which only you and the other person can read. You choose what your profile shows, and providers choose which contact details are public. See the privacy notice for the full picture.
- How are providers vetted?
- Community admins verify a provider's identity and contact details before they're listed. That's what "vetted" means here — we don't certify professional qualifications, and Ghadeer isn't a party to any work you arrange. Use the same judgment you'd use with any professional.
- Why are there no downvotes?
- To keep the tone constructive. If an answer helps, you upvote it or mark it Helpful. If it's wrong, you reply with something better. No flame wars, by design.
- What is "mourning mode"?
- During Shia mourning periods, the whole experience — app and website — shifts to a dignified grayscale with a single switch, out of respect. It's built into the design from the ground up.
- When does it launch?
- We're building toward a careful, invite-first launch. Join the waitlist and we'll let you know the moment there's room — no spam, one-click unsubscribe, ever.
